Future Leaders
As the pool of eligible school leaders diminishes, governors have a pivotal part to play in securing the best possible successive leadership for schools and opportunities for children. Recruiting and selecting a headteacher is arguably the most important task governors can undertake.
Future Leaders is a leadership development programme that aims to address this leadership shortage, as well as educational disadvantage, by developing a new generation of exceptional leaders for challenging schools.
Each year a new cohort of talented and committed individuals are intensively trained, coached, and mentored specifically towards becoming a Deputy Head the following year and a headteacher after four years. There are now over 350 Future Leaders working in at least 200 schools in challenging circumstances across the UK.
Effective leadership is at the heart of every good school and a strong headteacher, backed by an able leadership team and governing body is vital for success.
Reach
Reach’s unique service has been bringing organisations and skilled volunteers together for almost 30 years. A small organisation, we work with voluntary groups throughout the UK and with thousands of skilled volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life. Last year we placed 1,100 skilled volunteers in 700 organisations across the UK. In any one year over 10,000 groups benefit from the expertise that a Reach volunteer offers.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI)
CMI the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence. We have more than 86,000 members. We are the only chartered body in the UK that awards management and leadership qualifications, we set the standards that others must follow.
If you’re a manager that means when you join the CMI you’re making a statement about your standards and determination to continue to develop your management skills. If you’re an employer that means your organisation will be able to draw on our experience of helping to get the best out of managers.
School Governors’ One-Stop Shop has now entered into an agreement with the Chartered Management Institute to offer managers they have recruited as school governors the opportunity to translate the skills that governors acquire into professional recognition. As an SGOSS recruited governor you can save up to £90 on the usual CMI joining fee and become a member from just £118. You can also save £200 in obtaining the coveted Chartered Manager award, the only accolade that proves your impact in business.

In today’s digital and fast-paced world, conventional ‘time management’ training is useless: 20 years behind the times, with out-dated models that assume that time is actually the thing that needs to be managed. The approach at Think Productive is more fundamental, and the focus is on improving performance in a tangible way. The team of Productivity Ninjas work practically to develop better habits and behaviours, and focus on helping people to manage their attention. Their workshops not only give people tools, but also follow through with ‘at-desk coaching’, by sitting at people’s desks and helping them figure out the best ways of working for them.
